Dear Tennis Members:
The North Austin MUD #1 Board of Directors has been researching ways to offer pickleball to residents and, after a successful trial period on the basketball court, has decided to move the pickleball trial to Tennis Court #2, which can accommodate 2 pickleball courts. Your tennis membership also allows you access to these pickleball courts. Premier Recreation has been directed to implement the changes outlined in this letter.
The new pickleball trial will begin on October 30th on Court #2 and results will be evaluated on a monthly basis. Pickleball court A will have designated open play times on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and on Monday/Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Court A will be reservable outside of these open play times. Court B will be reservable for pickleball from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day. Pickleball is not allowed on any other courts.
We are aware of some rule violations of the tennis courts and will be taking extra steps and implementing new processes to ensure our courts are being used by our members and their guests and that everyone is following our rules which are outlined below. Please be sure to bring your state issued photo ID with you while on the courts. Staff may be making their way around to take photos of our members for our internal systems and we will need to check ID’s during that process. We may also have security staff on site from time to time who may ask to see your ID.
Please be sure to always scan your phone at the gate, even if that door is being held open for you or someone you are with has already scanned in. This helps us track usage, ensure court rules are being followed, and is also important for safety reasons.
Due to the demand for courts during peak hours, members should cancel 2 hours prior to their reservation if it is no longer needed. Failure to do so will be considered a no show. Cancellations may be made thru e-soft the same way reservations are made.
A valid court membership is required to reserve any court, whether for tennis or pickleball. Membership grants access to both sports. Below are the rules for court usage:
- A valid membership is required to obtain access to the courts.
- Court access must be purchased annually at the community center office. Memberships can be purchased at any time but will be subject to renewal in late spring.
- Courts are for racket sports play only. No soccer tennis.
- No professional lessons are allowed.
- Proper attire is required. Shirts must be worn at all times.
- No dangerous or offensive conduct or offensive language will be allowed.
- No music allowed.
- No glass containers or alcoholic beverages are allowed inside the court area.
- No pets, bicycles, skateboards, skates, or motorized vehicles are allowed in the court area.
- Reservations are limited to 2 hours and 1 reservation per day.
- Reservations and usage of the courts must be between 7am and 10pm.
- Members must cancel 2 hours prior to their reservation time if no longer needed. No shows will be considered a violation. Failure to scan your phone at the gate may initially look like a no show, so be sure to remember to scan.
- A maximum of (4) persons per court. Additional participants may wait outside the gated area. A resident member must be present at all times when the court is in use and will be responsible for their guests.
- The gate to the tennis court area should be closed and locked at all times.
- All special activities within the court area must receive prior District approval.
Violators are subject to removal, privileges/membership revoked, and possible prosecution, depending on the nature of the offense. We will be making audits of our systems to ensure rules are followed.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our recreational offerings for all residents. Comments, concerns, recommendations and kudos may be e-mailed to RCCC@northaustinmud1.org and will be compiled monthly for the entire board to review.
Thank you for your support.
