Stage 1 Watering Restrictions in effect 9/2/25
Due to notice from Austin Water and combined storage levels of Lake Travis and Buchanan above 1.9 million acre-feet of water, the District will move back to Stage 1 of its drought contingency plan effective September 2, 2025. Stage 1 restrictions include a modified weekly watering schedule shown below.
Stage 1
- Customers may irrigate outdoors with a permanently installed irrigation system only before 10 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. once per week on a Designated Outdoor Water Use Day;
- Customers may irrigate outdoors with a hose-end sprinkler, a soaker hose, or use drip irrigation only before 10:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. twice per week on the Designated Outdoor Water Use Days;
- Tree bubblers are allowed at any time;
- Stage 1 requirements do not apply to irrigation:
- using a hand-held hose or hand-held bucket;
- used to establish New Landscapes;
- during repair or testing of a new or existing irrigation system if the person performing the testing is present;
- Use at a commercial plant nursery; or
- Use of water for an athletic field used for sports
- Use for dust abatement purposes;
- And use for charity car washes.

The North Austin Municipal Utility District has passed a Drought Contingency Plan for the District in May 2024. This plan defines various levels of Water Conservation measures and describes the points when each level will be triggered.
The District is currently in conservation stage water restrictions and ask that customers conserve water and water according to the Designated Outdoor Water Day Schedule shown above. Full details and restrictions can be found in the drought plan below.
