December 18, 2014 – A home in North Austin MUD #1 was discovered to have high Mercury levels due to an accidental spill in the garage. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Williamson County Hazardous Materials Response were contacted in order to verify the spill and vapor levels in the home on Amasia Cove. A cleanup crew has been contacted, and they will slowly go through the house to mitigate the high levels of mercury. At this time, there are no mercury vapors outside the house, so it is not a threat to people outside of the home. The vapors are not a threat to water or wastewater. (Click above to read more.)
