NOTICE OF DIRECTOR ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that North Austin Municipal Utility District No. 1 (the “District”) will hold an election on November 6, 2018, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., at the polling place for each election precinct established by Travis County and Williamson County, Texas, for the purpose of electing a director to serve in Place 2 and a director to serve in Place 4, each of whom will serve a four-year term.
The ballots used in the election will have printed on them the names of all candidates for each of the two places for the office of director who have filed applications to have their names printed on the ballot at least 78 days before the election, and one blank space for write-in votes for any candidate for each of the two places for the office of director who has filed a declaration of write-in candidacy at least 74 days before the election.
The presiding judges, alternate presiding judges, and clerks for the election selected and appointed by Travis County and Williamson County in compliance with the requirements of State law are designated and appointed as election officers for the holding of the election. The presiding judges, alternate presiding judges, and clerks will perform the functions and duties of their respective positions that are provided by State law.
The District is divided into a total of five election precincts, one of which is in Travis County and four of which are in Williamson County. The respective Election Day polling places will be the polling places designated by Travis County for the election, as set forth on Exhibit “A”, and the polling places designated by Williamson County for the election, as set forth on Exhibit “B”.
Early voting in the election by personal appearance will begin on October 22, 2018 and continue through November 2, 2018. The Travis County regular early voting clerk is Dana DeBeauvoir, Travis County Elections Administrator. The Williamson County regular early voting clerk is Christopher J. Davis, Williamson County Elections Administrator. Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted at the times, dates, and polling places established for early voting by Travis County, as set forth on Exhibit “C”, and Williamson County, as set forth on Exhibit “D”. Requests for Travis County applications for early voting ballots to be voted by mail may be sent to the Travis County Early Voting Clerk by: (a) first class US Mail to PO Box 149325, Austin, Texas 78714-9325 and (b) hand delivery or contract carrier to 5501 Airport Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78751-1410. Applications for early voting ballots by mail must be received by the close of business on Friday, October 26, 2018. Early voting ballots by mail must be received no later than 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. In certain circumstances, the deadline to receive early voting ballots by mail may be different. Please refer to Texas Election Code, Sections 86.007, 101.057, and 101.001.
The election is being held pursuant to an order adopted by the Board of Directors of the District on July 25, 2018.
